Deciding to see a therapist is a big step to addressing your issues, so congratulations! Life is good . . . except for when it’s NOT. The human condition comes with all sorts of rich and rewarding experiences but there are also times when life is challenging, confusing, overwhelming, and emotionally exhausting. I believe that people are more resilient than they realize. I am here to help you come to this realization by working with you to reach your goals of achieving wellness, healing, and success. My philosophy is that you are the expert of yourself and I merely serve as a guide to help you develop into what you are meant to be. Working in collaboration, I would like you to feel better, empowered, more fulfilled, and equipped to handle the ups and downs of life. Overall, my ultimate goal is to help you learn how to help yourself, see you improve the quality of your life and achieve your full potential.

Hello! I’m Tawanda Lewis-Hazan, the lead psychotherapist and founder of WandieCo LLC. I am a licensed professional counselor and also a licensed behavior specialist in Pennsylvania. I have over 10 years of experience and I have provided over 10,000+ hours working with a variety of clientele ranging from children and adolescents to adults with various diagnoses and in multiple settings. I work with patients from late adolescence through all adult ages. Using an eclectic approach to counseling, I incorporate developmental, cognitive and mindfulness approaches to address a variety of issues including maladaptive behaviors, poor self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship problems (platonic, familial, or amorous) as well as grief and trauma processing. With an educational focus in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, I also have a special interest in working with people that have experienced work-related issues, including stress and burnout.

In 2007, I earned my Master’s in Clinical-Counseling Psychology from La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA. My concentration was in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.  While there, I did part of my internship at the Saint Joseph’s University Career Center in Philadelphia, PA and became a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. In addition, I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA; and lastly, I have a Human Resource Management Certificate from Villanova University in Villanova, PA.

What to Know When Working With Me

My Overall Approach

Overall, I am a solution-focused psychotherapist but depending on the client and the respective issues, I also use traditional and eclectic forms of therapy, such as talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, humanistic, motivational therapy and life coaching. I may also pull from behavior analysis/modification strategies to overcome maladaptive behaviors.  To this end, I have a number of different approaches that can be employed and aimed at overcoming the thoughts and behaviors that serve as obstacles to finding peace and happiness.

Psychotherapy is best done as a collaborative process and establishing a positive connection and a strong alliance with your therapist are critical for any change to occur. I see my role as your partner and co-creator to help you heal, gain clarity, and grow personal in order to find the fulfillment you seek. I can help you build a healthy relationship with yourself and others. My approach to therapy is collaborative, with a focus on self-exploration, increasing insight, and empowering you to be the best version of yourself. Collaboratively, we will identify goals that you’d like to achieve through therapy. You will learn ways to identify and honor your authentic self and to maintain resiliency throughout life’s challenges.

Therapy Style

My personal and professional style can be described as a mix of down to earth realness mixed with a good sense of humor. I’m an easy-going therapist who is open, warm, compassionate, creative, and flexible. On the other hand, I can also be serious and straight up. While at times I will be firm, I strive to be an unbiased sounding board offering calm and empathy so you can reflect and work through your issues.

At all times, I feel honored to work with clients who are willing to confront their life challenges, actively work on finding solutions and achieving their goals and my job is to provide a warm, safe, nurturing, accepting, and therapeutic environment to do just that.
